The Human Resources Department recently recognized the first official cohort of University employees who completed “The Leadership Experience,” a new offering by the HR learning and development team.
The Community Relations Department in the Division for University Advancement is collecting new or gently used books to benefit students at Nathaniel Alexander Elementary.
Books may be donated through Thursday, Dec. 19, at the following drop-off locations: Atkins Library lobby, College of Education atrium and the lobby of the Foundation Building.

The Department of Revenue requires all employers to request new Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificates (Form NC-4 or NC-4 EZ) from employees as a result of N.C. House Bill, effective Jan. 1.
In the event a new form is not submitted, the employer must set the tax withholding to a status of “single” with no allowances, which will maximize the amount of taxes withheld.
Graduate students Kristen Okamoto and Kenan Tokmic are the 2013-14 recipients of the Graduate School Outstanding Master’s Thesis Awards.
Okamoto was recognized in the social sciences category for “Running Alone, Together: The Embodied Identities of Running Works Athletes.” She is a graduate from the master’s program in communication studies.

Microsoft researchers have designed a smart bra that can detect stress, according to an online BBC news article. UNC Charlotte alumna Erin Carroll (Ph.D. ’13, computing and information systems) was the lead on the project during a research internship at Microsoft in summer 2012. She also completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University in 2008.
