UNC Charlotte Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) Director Johan Enslin is a 2014 Energy Leadership Award honoree. Named by the Charlotte Business Journal, Enslin is one of 11 winners to be recognized for making the Carolinas a global force in the energy industry.
Journalist and activist Beatrice Thompson will present “Past, Present and Future: Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the Cone University Center, McKnight Hall.
UNC Charlotte administrative offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, through Wednesday, Jan. 1, for winter break. The University will resume normal operations Thursday, Jan. 2.

Florence Crittenton Services Inc. was the recipient of the fifth annual Students4Giving effort by students in the Department of Social Work in the College of Health and Human Services. The group donated $4,000 to the agency’s Legacy Hall program.
Saturday’s commencement was a celebratory time, especially for Casey Rassau, who was the first graduate from the Health Informatics Professional Science Master program. After graduation, Rassau heads off to a position with BlueCross Blue Shield of North Carolina.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, Chancellor Philip L. Dubois addressed a packed audience of University City businesspeople at the Charlotte Chamber’s luncheon at the Hilton hotel. At the event, Dubois reported on the past, present and future of North Carolina’s urban research university.
