Community relations sponsoring campus book drive

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

The Community Relations Department in the Division for University Advancement is collecting new or gently used books to benefit students at Nathaniel Alexander Elementary.

Books may be donated through Thursday, Dec. 19, at the following drop-off locations: Atkins Library lobby, College of Education atrium and the lobby of the Foundation Building.

This small initiative is one of many efforts in an ongoing partnership between UNC Charlotte and the Governor’s Village Schools. Nathanial Alexander, which enrolls students in kindergarten through fifth grade, is one of four schools located less than two miles from campus. Schools in the village are all named for former North Carolina governors; the other schools are Morehead Elementary (a STEM school), James Martin Middle School and Vance High School.

The Community Relations Department will host an event Wednesday, Jan. 29, to provide more information about the partnership and share ways for students, faculty and staff to get involved. Email questions to Jenny Matz at jenny.matz@uncc.edu.
