Transferring administrative oversight of 470 non-faculty EPA positions from the Office of Academic Affairs to the Human Resources Department is under way, and University officials stress that they do not expect major changes for the campus.

The film and discussion event "Blood Done Sign My Name" with Benjamin Chavis Jr. originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 19, has been canceled due to technical difficulties.  The film will be screened at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, in the Student Union Movie Theater; however, Chavis will not participate in the discussion. 

As part of the Project Mosaic Brown Bag Seminar series, James Walsh, political science and public administration, will talk about “Ethnic Exclusion, Oil and Civil War” at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, in Cone University Center, Room 348B.

Johan Enslin, director of the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC), will discuss energy independence at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19, in UNC Charlotte Center City, Room 204, as part of the 2014 Great Decisions lecture series. Prior to his talk, Enslin will be recognized at a reception as part of the UNC Charlotte observance of Engineers Week.

Meg Whalen, director of communications and external relations for the College of Arts + Architecture, will talk with dance faculty members Gretchen Alterowitz and Sybil Huskeyedition on the March 18 edition of "The Live Wire," Inside UNC Charlotte's streaming webcast. Employees can watch “Live Wire” at their desk or on their mobile device starting at 2 p.m.

Due to construction of the 408-bed residential building Martin Hall, a section of Cameron Boulevard will be closed temporarily to regular vehicle access for approximately nine to 12 weeks starting Wednesday, Feb. 26. A travel lane will be available for buses and SafeRide only. Officials anticipate the section to re-open prior to commencement.

In a first for the University, the Office of Extended Academic Programs is partnering with the Disney Institute to bring its innovative leadership training to Charlotte on Wednesday, March 12.

The Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast’s mobile mammography unit will be on campus from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25. It will be parked in the loading dock area behind the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. Members of the campus community can schedule an appointment with the unit by calling 704-403-1729.

The UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens still has orchids available from its abbreviated Valentine’s Day Sale. “The snow really did a number on our Valentine’s Day sale, and we are trying to find good homes for all these beautiful plants,” said Paula Gross, assistant director of the Botanical Gardens.

Graduation speakers and bell ringers are needed for UNC Charlotte’s three spring commencement exercises in May.

The College of Arts + Architecture Department of Theatre will present the experimental play “4.48 Psychosis” in the Black Box Theater of Robinson Hall from Wednesday, Feb.19, through Thursday,  Feb. 27.
