Junior Austin Halbert from Shelby is among honorees from across the United States selected as a 2014 Newman Civic Fellow, presented by Campus Compact.
This national distinction is given to student leaders “who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for challenges facing communities throughout the country,” according to the Campus Compact website.

Belk Gym will take a “time out” for renovation starting this May, reopening in 2015 with air conditioning for the gyms and workout facilities, upgrades including a new fitness center, and more classroom amenities.
Renovations begin May 2014 following Commencement. Belk Gym will be closed for the duration of construction. The building is expected to reopen fall 2015.
