UNC Charlotte will serve as the campus host site for the 2024 American Association of Blacks in Higher Education annual Leadership and Mentoring Institute, July 14-20.
The Leadership and Mentoring Institute was launched in 2003 at Savannah State University under the leadership of Joseph H. Silver as a week-long professional development opportunity that provided African American university faculty and staff the information and skills to qualify for senior administrative positions and academic rank. Since then, the program has expanded to support all faculty and staff who seek to advance their higher education careers.
“As a past participant, I’m pleased to share this experience with faculty and staff at UNC Charlotte and beyond,” said Brandon Wolfe, UNC Charlotte’s chief diversity officer. “Charlotte’s partnership with North Carolina State University, Elizabeth City State University, North Carolina A&T, UNC Wilmington and UNC Chapel Hill increases our investment in student success through faculty and staff preparation.”
Applications for LMI 2024 are open; the deadline for submission is April 10. Tuition and fees include the week-long institute, curriculum materials, meals (unless otherwise noted in acceptance materials), lodging and transportation during the institute.
