It’s not too late to get a flu shot

Monday, December 14, 2020

Students and employees who were unable to receive a flu shot before the Nov. 16 deadline for the University’s flu shot attestation or who initially declined a shot but would now like to receive one may still do so by contacting the Student Health Center at 704-687-7400 or their local health care provider or other community resource.

“It takes two to three weeks for the vaccine to begin providing protection against the flu,” said Dr. Robert Jones, the University’s medical director. “Getting a shot now allows the patient to have protection in January and February when flu season is at its peak. I encourage everyone who is able to be vaccinated to do so, especially this year as we fight not only the flu but COVID-19.”

The University is also assessing demand for an on-campus flu shot clinic in January through an interest form for students and employees.
