Tuesday, September 24, 2019

The UNC Board of Governors approved a Paid Parental Leave program during its meeting Friday, Sept. 20. This program will provide eight weeks of fully paid parental leave to eligible employees who have given birth to a child and four weeks of paid leave for non-birth parents in circumstances involving the birth of a child or the adoption, foster placement or other legal placement of a child with an eligible state employee.

Read a letter from Interim President Roper regarding this new leave program.

The window for campuses to implement this program is no earlier than Jan.1, 2020, and no later than March 31, 2020. The UNC System Office is in the process of completing policy/regulation language to reflect the new program as well as updating an FAQ document for use in preparing for campus implementation. UNC Charlotte has initiated work to configure Kronos and other systems for the change.

Human Resources will communicate additional details as soon as possible. In the meantime, direct questions to Krissy Kaylor, benefits director, at krissy.kaylor@uncc.edu or 704-687-0649.
