201 Day of Convocation
Monday, August 5, 2019

Monday, Aug. 19, is Day of Convocation, an annual occasion to welcome new students to UNC Charlotte. Known as Day One, this full-day event will provide incoming first-year and transfer students an introduction to Niner Nation.

Students will begin the Day of Convocation by assembling at their respective colleges for morning activities. Then, as a group, students will walk to Halton Arena for the Day of Convocation ceremony, which will feature remarks from University leaders. They will outline the University’s history, mission, values and academic expectations. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.; the ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon.

After the ceremony, students will return to their colleges for department-specific programming to acclimate them to their educational journey.

Faculty and first-year course instructors are encouraged to participate in Day of Convocation. They will process in regalia for the Day of Convocation ceremony in Halton Arena.

Classes scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. will not meet on Aug. 19; classes scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. or later will be held.
