Jessica Deal, Facilities Operations, claimed first place in the Staff Council’s annual Chili and Cornbread Cook-off, held recently at the Cone University Center, Lucas Room.
Around 100 staff members stopped by to sample the chili and cornbread entries and vote on their favorites.
Lisa McElmurray and Tina Matta, University Recreation, and Stephen Snipes, Popp Martin Student Union, tied for second place; while Dannie Mirovich, Parking and Transportation Services, claimed third place.
ITS member Penny Stevens won fan favorite for her cornbread recipe as did Mirovich’s chili. Deal won the table decorating contest.
As part of the cook-off, the Staff Council hosted a team scavenger hunt; contestants had to identify clues related to locations on campus or at UNC Charlotte Center City and capture the moment via digital photography. Enrollment Management’s Melodie Basey, Sarah Campbell, Lisa Meckley and Katie Ramstack won the hunt.
