Xueying Brown and Donna Goodenow emerged as UNC Charlotte’s best graduate presenters at the 2018 Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition held recently at Atkins Library.

Brown, a Ph.D. candidate in environmental engineering, won the top award and People’s Choice, determined by a vote of the estimated 90 people attending the event. Goodenow, a Ph.D. candidate in biological sciences, claimed the runner-up award. Both winners received cash prizes, and Brown has an opportunity to compete at the next level at the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools annual meeting in Knoxville in February 2019.

Brown’s winning presentation was “Potable Water Reuse: Are Environmental Buffers Really More Effective?” Goodenow delivered “Dietary Supplements: Healthy or Hazardous?”
