The fall 2018 crowdfunding lineup includes eight faculty- and/or student-driven projects that promise to enhance and transform the collegiate experience at UNC Charlotte. Crowdfund UNC Charlotte is an online platform that assists members of Niner Nation fund unique initiatives.

One project seeking funding is the Sports Analytics Club, which is raising money to purchase GPS tracking devices that will help UNC Charlotte athletics teams analyze game statistics and use those statistics to tailor players’ workouts so their bodies are primed to compete come game time. The club is seeking $5,000 for this initiative.

President of the UNC Charlotte Sports Analytics Club Harish Amatya loves sports, but the junior finance major also loves crunching numbers. Amatya and fellow Sports Analytics Club members help UNC Charlotte athletics teams analyze game statistics and use those statistics to tailor players’ workouts so their bodies are primed come game time. The club is working specifically with the football and baseball teams, as well as men’s and women’s basketball.

“We’re actually making a big impact,” Amatya said “We also get to get close to the coaches and players, which is really cool.”
