Display Niner pride and enjoy the camaraderie of colleagues at this year’s Staff Council Fall Festival, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.

The festival is a free event; however, staff members should bring their UNC Charlotte ID for the luncheon.

The Staff Council Fall Festival is an annual autumn tradition; attendees can play bingo, bean bag toss, basketball and flip-a-chick, and there will be a cake walk. Plus, an artist from Polk Fun and Caricatures will be in attendance to sketch employees.

New for this year is an Office Decorating Contest – the theme is “Niner Pride.” Register by Oct. 3; judges will review the entries on Oct. 5.

Staff members also can participate in the “Sweet Competition,” “Talent Competition” and “Photography Competition.” Contest winners will be announced during the festival.

As part of the Fall Festival, the Staff Council encourages attendees to bring a donation for Classroom Central, a nonprofit organization that serves student and teachers across six school districts. Its mission is to equip students living in poverty to effectively learn by collecting and distributing free school supplies.

“We invite each and every staff member to come out and experience the pride of Niner Nation at the Staff Council Fall Festival,” said Celeste Corpening, Staff Council chair and a member of ITS. “Our fall festival is a way for the Staff Council to demonstrate its appreciation for University staff members’ contributions in making UNC Charlotte a great place to work. We anticipate a terrific turnout from University staff, and attendees can network with colleagues and showcase their talents through our contests and have lunch on us. Don't forget to bring your donation for Classroom Central – those who do will be eligible to win an awesome prize. It takes many volunteers to make our fall festival a wonderful experience, and the Staff Council is an awesome group of people who advocate for their co-workers. Thanks also to Chancellor Dubois for his continuous support of Staff Council.”

The UNC Charlotte Staff Council is the mechanism whereby staff members can provide input on issues involving the University and campus community. The chancellor delegated the council the authority and responsibility to bring to the attention of the administration matters of general staff concern and to take such actions as are necessary to enable it to meet those responsibilities.
