Corpening sworn in as Staff Council chair

ITS staff member Celeste Corpening is chair of the UNC Charlotte Staff Council for the 2018-19 academic year. Tina Dadio from the Office of Legal Affairs recently administered the oath of office at the council’s annual summer retreat.

Corpening is nearing 20 years of service to the University. In her ITS role, she supports the imaging system through project management, technical support, eForm design, web design and technical documentation.

Prior to being elected chair, Corpening served as the events and education committee chair for seven years and vice chair for two years.

The other members of the council’s executive committee are Rachel Pierson-Bonin, vice chair, a member of the Human Resources Department; Jill Gosnell, treasurer, from the Registrar’s Office; Pam Erickson, secretary, from the Cato College of Education; and Julie Stuart, EPIC, is the communications officer.

Pierson-Bonin joined UNC Charlotte in January 2014 as a temporary employee in HR, becoming permanent that November. She served on Staff Council as an alternate for Area 10 since 2016 before being elected vice chair.

Erickson began her University career in December 2009 as an administrative support associate. In February 2010, she became office manager for the Office of Field Experiences, now the Office of School and Community Partnerships. Initially an area alternate, she is entering her second year as secretary.

Gosnell joined UNC Charlotte in June 2006 in the Office of Disability Services. In July 2015, she became the business manager in the Office of the Registrar. She joined the Staff Council in July 2016 as the Area 2 representative and became treasurer in July 2017.

Staff Council retreat attendeesStuart’s UNC Charlotte tenure began in 2015 as assistant director, marketing, for EPIC. She has served on the Staff Council for three years, first as Area 8 representative, and she is in her second year as the communications officer.

The UNC Charlotte Staff Council has been delegated by the chancellor to bring to the attention of the administration, matters of general staff concern and to take such actions as are necessary to enable it to meet those responsibilities.

Meetings take place the second Wednesday of each month, and all staff are welcome to attend.
