Franz Kellermanns, the Addison H. and Gertrude C. Reese Endowed Chair in International Business, is among the recipients of the 2018 Family Business Review Best Article Award.
He, along with Mississippi State College’s Daniel Holt and Kincy Madison, authored “Variance in Family Members’ Assessments: The Importance of Dispersion Modeling in Family Firm Research.” The study examines the variability of family members’ perceptions of family-owned businesses and how researchers can account for those differences. The researchers suggest greater investigation is needed to understand how other family members influence the effectiveness of the firm versus that of the family member who leads the business.
Family Business Review is considered the premier academic journal devoted to researching family-owned enterprises. Kellermanns and his Mississippi State colleagues will be honored formally at the Family Firm Institute’s annual conference in October in London.
“It is a great honor to receive this award, many leading management and entrepreneurship scholars publish in Family Business Review and to receive such recognition is very special,” Kellermanns said.
Recently, the Journal of Small Business Management ranked Kellermanns as the 13th leading scholar worldwide in the study of entrepreneurship. He has received multiple awards for his research, which includes international business, strategic management and entrepreneurship with a focus on family business research. He also has been ranked as the fourth most productive researcher on family firms worldwide.
