Mary Anne Franks
Thursday, March 22, 2018

Mary Anne Franks, professor of law at the University Miami, will present “Stopping Revenge Porn” at 2 p.m., Monday, March 26, in the Cone University Center, Room 210.

Nonconsensual pornography or revenge porn is a massive problem: according to a recent study, 1 in 25 Americans has been a victim of threats or posts of nearly nude or nude images without their permission.  Most of the victims are women, and younger women are particularly likely to be victims. One in 10 women under the age of 30 have experienced threats of nonconsensual image sharing.

In her March 26 presentation, Franks will speak about her efforts to work with state legislatures to criminalize nonconsensual pornography.

The UNC Charlotte Center for Professional & Applied Ethics is sponsoring this free, public talk.
