Aysen Ulupinar has a passion for student leadership development, athletics and being able to work closely with parents and students while they make their decisions to attend UNC Charlotte and live on campus.

Currently the assignments supervisor in the Housing and Residence Life Office, Ulupinar said, “In this role, I get the pleasure of working with students, parents and campus administrators in a broad range of leadership development and housing.”

Ulupinar began her career in higher education as an undergraduate at Bowling Green State University where she was involved in a multitude of campus events and organizations. She went on to earn a master’s degree in higher education at Kent State University.

But the University of Akron was where Ulupinar landed her first full-time role in higher education. She was the coordinator of co-curricular programs and activities. In this position, Ulupinar had the opportunity to teach college freshmen, facilitate numerous student leadership development training weeks, advised a fraternity and develop her passion for athletics. While in this role, she took many opportunities to expand her training and certifications toward leadership development.

“My two favorite opportunities were becoming a certified facilitator of ‘True Colors’ and the ‘Student Leadership Challenge,’” said Ulupinar. “It was so much fun learning such a fundamental part of human development that applies to all aspects of life. These experiences and facilitator certifications broadened my knowledge and opportunity to impact the lives of those around me.”

Arriving at UNC Charlotte in May 2015, Ulupinar was ready for change and new prospects. “I was very fortunate that my supervisor, Carla Hines, saw beyond my current knowledge but also my potential to help grow our housing program. I have enjoyed many new opportunities along to way to help impact the lives of students at UNC Charlotte.

“UNC Charlotte has so much to offer for future students, parents and employees. The potential for positive growth in our youth is on the horizon. We are fortunate at UNC Charlotte to have new opportunities each year to involve ourselves in areas of our expertise and passions.”

Ulupinar is grounded in her faith and family. She is passionate about helping others and believes love always wins over evil. She often can be found supporting philanthropic efforts in the community and working to help people through the Justin March-Lillard Foundation. In addition, she loves to bring her daughter to on-campus events and involves her in supporting Charlotte 49ers athletic teams.
