The North Carolina Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (NC-LSAMP) will hold its 2016 annual undergraduate research conference at UNC Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 14.
“STEM Matters,” which will be in the Cone University Center, will provide students and faculty within the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) the opportunity to present posters of their research. The registration deadline to submit abstracts is Friday, Sept. 30; the deadline for student presenters, co-presenters, faculty mentors and others to register to attend is Friday, Oct. 7.
The 2016 NC-LSAMP research conference will include a graduate student panel, poster presentations and concurrent sessions on a number of topics, including “Applying to Graduate School,” “GRE Test Prep,” “In Search of Research” and “Transferable Skills for Transformation Leaders.”
NC-LSAMP, funded by the National Science Foundation, includes an alliance of academic institutions that have exemplary records of enrolling and retaining significant numbers of undergraduate students underrepresented in STEM disciplines. NC-LSAMP has existed for 25 years in North Carolina and 20 years at UNC Charlotte.
Other member institutions include UNC Chapel Hill, N.C. University, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, N.C. Central University, UNC Pembroke, Fayetteville State University and Winston-Salem State University.
