Dooley is Center for Wellness Promotion director

Beau Dooley, a native of Southwest Louisiana, joined the University as director of the Center for Wellness Promotion earlier this semester.

Dooley has worked in the health care field for the past 18 years. He started in medical supplies and patient transport at Lafayette (La.) General Medical Center. During a stint with the U.S. Peace Corps, he served as a health education specialist in Mali conducting school health nutrition and HIV/AIDS prevention work. Afterward, Dooley began his career in the field of college health. Since 2004, he has served in various health promotion and administrative positions at four college health centers across the nation.

A graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Dooley completed a Master of Public Health degree from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He also holds a Master of Science in Higher Education Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University, and he is a master certified health education specialist through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
