Delane Vanada, assistant professor of art education and visual studies, will be among a delegation of art education researchers who will travel to Helsinki, Finland, in early November to conduct research about art education policy and practice in Finnish schools and communities.

Members of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) delegation will define and compare the roles of art education in the education systems of Finland and the United States. Delegates will attend daily meetings with art education administrators and art education professionals to discuss common challenges and strategies.

Vanada recently presented papers at two conferences. "Contemporary Art Integration: Inquiry in Art and Design as Deep and Visible" was presented at the Southeastern College Art Conference in Sarasota, Fla., and “Teaching for the Future: The Courage to Fail” was presented at the American Association of Teaching and Curriculum in Tampa.
