October advising workshops scheduled

The Office of Academic Services is holding free workshops during October for University advisors on a number of topics. Prospective participants can complete an online form for session(s) they plan to attend.

“Developing a Working Knowledge of Academic Services and Referral Processes” will be at 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13, in the Friday Building, Room 107. Cynthia Wolf Johnson, associate provost for academic services; Shonta LeMaster, director of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Advising Center; and Howard Simms, associate director of transfer students, University Advising Center; will lead this session designed to provide information to advisers on resources to students and how to refer them so they are motivated to take action.

“Understanding Transfer Credit” will be at 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20, in the Friday Building, Room 107. Barbara Seyter, senior associate director of admissions, and Howard Simms, associate director of transfer students, University Advising Center, will facilitate this workshop to clarify UNC Charlotte policies regarding the intake and use of transfer credit.
