September workshops for Academic Advisor Development Program

The Office of Academic Services is holding free workshops during September for University advisors on a number of topics. Prospective participants can complete an online form for session(s) they plan to attend.

“Understanding the Basics of Advising” will be from 2 to 2:45 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22, in Friday Building, Room 112. Karina Dusenbury, director of undergraduate advising for the Belk College of Business, and Henrietta Thomas, director of the University Advising Center, will lead this workshop to explore what good academic advising should be and how advising fits in to the University’s institutional mission.

“Efficient Use of Banner by Knowing What You Need: Advisor Forms, Reports” will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, in Denny Building, Room 102. Henrietta Thomas and Elizabeth Mullis, Banner systems manager in the Office of the Registrar, will lead this question-and-answer session.

“Getting the Most Out of Niner Advisor” will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the College of Health and Human Services, Room 370. Roy Fielding, kinesiology, will provide an introduction to the campus, online appointment scheduling and advising database. Niner Advisor allows one to schedule advising appointments, record notes, upload documents into student files among many other functions.
