July, August EEAO raffle winners named

The Energy and Environmental Assistance Office has released the winners of its July and August raffles, which were incentive to faculty and staff members to help improve Charlotte air quality during the summer ozone season.

Winners of weekly raffle for employees who didn’t drive during lunch were Yvonne Billings, Jessica Fahri and Terri Fish, extended academic programs; Rachel Bonin and Gina Ewart, HR; Susan Bunton, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences; Jim Conrad and Yamilka Baez Rivera, College of Engineering; Debbie Joyner, Amanda Simpson and Nicole Tarr, Belk College of Business; Bonita Pickett, continuing education; Nora Miller and Melanie Sischo, financial services; Chea Smith, Office of Research and Development; and Debby Watts, Venture. They won $10 gift Walmart gift cards.

The July and August winners of the fill-up-your-gas-tank early in the morning and later in the evening raffle were Linda Thurman, employer relations, and Nora Miller, financial services. They received a $25 gift card to Lowe’s and a $20 gift card to Target, respectively.

“EPIC’s Energy and Environmental Assistance Office would like to our summer ozone initiative participants. There were 190 entries for the eat-in-for-lunch challenge. If we average one mile for every lunch trip, our participants saved about 352 kilowatt hours of energy - enough to run the air conditioner 704 hours, bake 352 birthday cakes and make 21,824 smoothies,” said Karyn Williamson-Coria. “If our participants eat in twice a week for a whole year, they will avoid 3,120 miles driven and save 5,772 kilowatt hours of energy - enough to power your whole house for six months.”
