UNC Charlotte students will have the chance to win prizes and gift cards from IKEA Charlotte – after they answer trivia questions about mental health, substance abuse, stress management and other topics related to their mental and physical health.

The Center for Wellness Promotion and IKEA Charlotte are partnering on the trivia contest “Pimp My Dorm Room,” which will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the center. Students can win an assortment of prizes ranging from laundry bags stuffed with back-to-college essentials to the grand prize of a $500 IKEA Charlotte gift card.

Students will spin the trivia wheel, and if they successfully answer a health-related question, they will have the chance to win one of the prizes. Two students will be chosen from preliminary rounds to compete in a final round. The winning student will receive the $500 gift card; the runner-up will receive a $200 gift card.

“The Center for Wellness Promotion is excited to begin a new year with a new signature program. Students will have an opportunity to win fabulous prizes from IKEA Charlotte while learning information about various issues that they, or their friends, may face during their college career,” said Leslie Robinson, a health education specialist in the Center for Wellness Promotion.

“This is an important project for all of us,” said IKEA Charlotte’s Brian Gott. “The issues students face when they go off to college are serious. Arming them with facts and information and promoting awareness of the Center for Wellness Promotion could save someone’s life.”
