Starting this fall, Meredith College M.B.A. students will have the option to earn a concentration in health informatics from UNC Charlotte through a partnership between the two institutions.
UNC Charlotte, through its College of Computing and Informatics and College of Health and Human Services, is at the forefront of educating students to leverage their knowledge of computer sciences and health care to evaluate, modify and implement medical information systems as well as educate others in their use.
“We are pleased to be part of this creative partnership with Meredith College. The partnership will allow us to leverage the experience, skills and expertise of Meredith’s M.B.A. and UNC Charlotte’s health informatics programs to better serve the state and our research partners in Research Triangle Park,” said Joshua Hertel, program director for health informatics in UNC Charlotte’s Graduate School. “UNC Charlotte courses will be delivered to students in the Raleigh-Durham area through a mix of online and face-to-face/hybrid courses. Students also will be able to work directly with UNC Charlotte faculty. Both programs are designed for working professionals, with courses in the evening and on weekends.”
Officials at Meredith College, located in Raleigh, stated the partnership with UNC Charlotte is a response to the demands of the workforce. Based upon feedback from Triangle-area employers, the college’s School of Business identified a high demand for graduates who knew the health industry and who could understand how to collect and use data to make informed decisions.
Meredith College M.B.A. students who choose the health informatics graduate certificate option are enrolled at both institutions. Upon degree completion, graduates will hold an M.B.A. from Meredith College and a health informatics certificate from UNC Charlotte.
