The UNC Charlotte Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in conjunction with the IEEE Charlotte section, is sponsoring a presentation on the Raspberry Pi from 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, Aug. 8, in EPIC, Room G287.
The Raspberry Pi is a credit card-sized computer that plugs into a TV and keyboard; it is built by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. Considered an inexpensive, capable computer, it is designed to provide children hands-on experience with computers and programming. It can be used in electronics projects and can run spreadsheet and word-processing programs and game software. It can play high-definition videos, too.
Ben Nuttall, a Web and software developer based in Cambridge, UK, will deliver the Aug. 8 presentation. Nuttall, who works in development and outreach for the Raspberry Pi Foundation, is on a U.S. tour to connect with teachers and computer enthusiasts about how the Raspberry Pi is being used in education.
