Jim McKay, an employee with the Student Union, was sworn formally as chair of the UNC Charlotte Staff Council during a retreat July 9. Staff Council executive officers, including Kay, vice chair Penny Stevens (ITS), secretary Shannon Homesley (Controller’s Office), treasurer Kimi Tippett (interdisciplinary studies) and communications officer Jessica Barton (Belk College of Business), along with new and returning representatives/alternates, met at the Harris Alumni Center at Johnson Glen to discuss plans for the 2014-15 fiscal year.
New Staff Council members this year are Area 1 alternate Frank Stewart (University communications), Area 7 representative Julie Howell (public health sciences) and alternate Pam Erickson (College of Education), Area 13 alternate Leslie Robinson (Student Health Center), Area 14 representative Matt Messina (athletics), Area 15B alternate Dennis Kowalski (facilities management, zone 2) and Area 18 representative Amanda Simpson (Belk College of Business). Frank Hogan (student affairs) and Dwight Nealey (facilities management, zone 2) were re-elected to represent Area 13 and Area 15B respectively.
