The College of Health and Human Services will host its annual “Dialogue for a Healthier Community” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, at UNC Charlotte Center City.
This year’s event, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, is entitled “Building a Healthier Charlotte: Efforts to Lead Change, Advance Health and Transform Communities.” It will feature a panel of health and human services experts who will discuss the future health of the Charlotte region.
Representing key organizations that promote community health, the panelists are Mark DeHaven, the Colvard Distinguished Professor of Community Health at UNC Charlotte; Ophelia Garmon-Brown, senior vice president of physician services at Novant Health; Susan Long-Marin, an epidemiologist with the Mecklenburg County Health Department; Zeev Neuwirth, president and chief clinical executive at Carolinas HealthCare System; and Valinda Rutledge, president/CEO of Rutledge Health Care Consulting.
Prior to the panel discussion, Gail Rosenberg from Carolinas HealthCare System will brief attendees on the Charlotte Chamber’s goal to make the Queen City one of the healthiest metropolises in the United States; she also will provide an overview of the American Fitness Index.
The Dialogue for a Healthier Community is an annual event that provides a forum for community leaders and community members to explore current health issues and to provide opportunities for participants to network around common concerns related to advancing health in Charlotte-Mecklenburg and the broader community.
The June 10 event is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested and can be completed online.
