Volunteers needed for Heroes in Recovery 6K

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Organizers of the inaugural Heroes in Recovery 6K Trail Run/Walk, which will benefit the University’s Collegiate Recovery Community, are seeking volunteers to assist with the event, scheduled for Saturday, June 21.

Volunteers would help with event set up/tear down, registration, food set up, parking and water stations. Each volunteer will receive a Heroes in Recovery T-shirt at check-in. To assist, email the volunteer coordinator at heroesinrecovery@frnmail.com.

According to its website, Heroes in Recovery is a movement ignited by Foundations Recovery Network and the widespread community to eliminate the social stigma that keeps individuals with addiction and mental health issues from seeking help.

Headquartered in Nashville, Foundations Recovery Network is considered one of the premiere organizations for treating individuals with co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders.

The University’s Collegiate Recovery Community offers weekly 12-step meetings, experiential activities, peer-mentorship as well as volunteer opportunities where sober students serve their community; build friendships; develop a solid support system; and build a lifetime of fun, happy memories.
