The Girls Scout, Hornets’ Nest Council recently named Regina Guyer among its Women of Distinction in the area of environmental leadership. According to the organization, the award recognizes an individual who has made significant accomplishments in keeping with the Girl Scouts’ movement “to leave a place better than they found it” and to use resources wisely.

Guyer, executive director of the University’s Environmental Assistance Office and associate director of the IDEAS Center, was honored for significant achievement in environmental leadership. A long-timer environmental advocate, Guyer worked for several years to educate K-12 students on how to make better choices for the environment. She also mentors UNC Charlotte students who intern in the Environmental Assistance Office and the IDEAS Center.

In 2013, Guyer was named Sustain Charlotte’s Outstanding Educator for 2013.
