Organization of American States official to speak

Lawrence Gumbiner, deputy U.S. permanent representative at the U.S. Mission to the Organization of American States, will talk about “U.S. Presence and Policy in the Americas” at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 3, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center, Salon A.

Before his current role, Gumbiner was deputy assistant secretary of state in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs. He coordinated the United States’ preparation for the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development.

This presentation is part of the International Speaker Series, coordinated by the Office of International Programs and presented in conjunction with Atkins Library; the Department of Global, International and Area Studies; and the World Affairs Council of Charlotte.
