Give Green during National Volunteer Week

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Faculty and staff members can continue “Giving Green in the Community” by participating in a number of projects planned for National Volunteer Week, April 7-11. These projects, coordinated by the Community Relations Department in the Division for University Advancement, involve two- to four-hour commitments in the morning or afternoon.

During National Volunteer Week, employees can support projects at the Second Harvest Food Bank, the Humane Society, Classroom Central, Crisis Assistance Ministry and the Safe Alliance Shelter for Women.

All permanent employees receive 24 hours of annual community leave, and National Volunteer Week activities are a great way to give back to the Charlotte community, bond with fellow employees and learn more about regional nonprofit organizations, said Jeanette Sims, director of community relations.
