The Department of Risk Management and Insurance is hosting the 90-minute webinar “Protecting Minors and Your Institution” at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 23. Faculty or staff members interested in attending should email Michelle Hill (mphilipp@uncc.edu) by Wednesday, April 16; the location will be announced, but it will be based upon the number of prospective attendees.
According to department officials, the webinar will focus on topics such as how child sexual abuse can occur on campus, identification of strategies to respond to suspected/actual incidents, understanding relevant legal principles related to working with minors and best practices for working with outside groups hosting on-campus events.
Anne Franke, a fellow of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, is scheduled to be the webinar presenter. Her writings have appeared in publications on disability, tenure, financial distress and student transportation safety.
