Charlotte 49ers head volleyball coach Gokhan Yilmaz has hired Nicole Miller as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator.  Miller, who played collegiately at South Carolina, has coached at Cincinnati, Houston and Mississippi during the last six years with experience as a recruiting coordinator.

Yilmaz described the hire as “our first recruiting win here at Charlotte. I have known Nicole through the recruiting trail. She knows the level of athletes we need in order to compete for C-USA championships. She played in the SEC and has recruited for a couple of big programs. Nicole has a way of connecting with people which is huge in recruiting. I have always been impressed with the athletes she recruited. She will also work with all of our blockers.”

A 2006 graduate of South Carolina, Miller received a bachelor’s degree in business economics with a minor in business management. She served as team captain for the Gamecocks for three seasons and was named to the Academic Honor Roll in 2004.

Miller coached at Cincinnati for the last two years following a two-year stint at Houston.  She began her college coaching career as a graduate assistant at Mississippi in 2008 and 2009. At both Cincinnati and Houston, Miller served as recruiting coordinator and assisted with practice planning and game preparation among her varied duties and responsibilities. She built networks of high school and club coaching contacts and strengthened the relationship between alumni and the program while cultivating student-athlete relationships.  At Houston, the Cougars posted a pair of 19-win seasons and finished third in Conference USA play in 2010.
