Sign up for UNC Charlotte alerts

Thursday, January 30, 2014

Recent inclement weather that affected University operations prompts this reminder to faculty and staff to sign up for UNC Charlotte alerts.

The Police and Public Safety Department, through the University’s Emergency Text Message Notification Program, can disseminate an emergency text to all those who subscribe to the service.

Jesh Humphrey, chair of the Campus Safety and Security Committee, noted, “UNC Charlotte does everything to ensure that our campus is a safe place to live and learn, but true preparedness depends on students, faculty and staff doing what they can to take charge of their personal safety.  Signing up for the Emergency Text Message Notification Program is an easy way for members of the campus community to have access to an invaluable tool for making life-saving decisions in an emergency situation."

To sign up for emergency text alerts, individuals should log onto their 49er Express account. Select “addresses and phones” from the Employee Home tab. Click on the update addresses and phones link, there is the option to add a cellular phone. Once an individual adds his/her text-capable cell phone number and presses submit, the person will be enrolled automatically in the University’s Emergency Text Notification Program.
