Russian Federation ambassador to lecture

Sergey Kislyak, ambassador from the Russian Federation to the United States, will speak at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Student Union, Room 340. He will present “The Russian Federation and the United States: Current State of Relations” as part of the sixth annual International Speaker Series.

This visit is the first to Charlotte by an ambassador from the Russian Federation. Kislyak has served in his current position since 2008. Before that, he was the Russian Federation’s ambassador to Belgium and Russia’s permanent representative to NATO in Brussels.

Kislyak’s previous diplomatic roles include service as the Russian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, first secretary and counselor at the Russian Embassy in Washington, deputy director of the Department of International Organizations, deputy director and director of the Department of International Scientific and Technical Cooperation and director of the Department of Security Affairs and Disarmament.
