Investigative artist and former UNC Charlotte professor Caroline Rust will have the exhibit “Standing in the Silent Pool: An Investigation of the Internal Lives of Women” displayed in the Student Union Art Gallery from Wednesday, Feb. 5, through Wednesday, Feb. 26. There will be a free, public reception for the exhibit at 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6.

According to Rust, the display will embody works that “study women’s utensils and practices as a means of investigation into women’s issues and roles—primarily self-image, self-worth and equal truths—while focusing upon her effects.”

Rust received a Master of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in painting from Winthrop University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in painting from East Carolina University. In addition to teaching fine arts at UNC Charlotte, she has worked as a professor in fine arts and a community arts director for the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Winthrop University.

Rust’s work has been displayed in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, Florida and Kansas. She won “Best of Show” from the Andy Warhol Museum Director and a regional artists grant from the Arts & Science Council.
