Student affairs staff stake their claim to charitable giving

Thursday, January 9, 2014

At its December planning meeting, the Division for Student Affairs staked its claim to community engagement as more than 225 staff members brought items to help clients during their stay at the Safe Alliance shelters at the various surrounding counties.  These shelters provide a safe and supportive environment for those in need of a sanctuary from abusive situations. Some of the items included non-perishable food, hygiene and toiletry items, baby care items, cleaning and paper supplies.

The Safe Alliance representative, Mike Blackwelder, delivered a short presentation on the various services provided to clients in need.  He also spoke about their Crisis Hot Line that is available 24 hours, 7 days/week at 704.332.2513.
