Athletics director to appear on national morning show

Monday, January 6, 2014

Judy Rose, director of athletics, will be an in-studio guest on CBS “This Morning” on Friday, Jan. 10. The national news program airs 7 to 9 a.m. weekdays from New York City, and it can be seen locally on WBT-TV.

According to CBS, Rose’s interview is part of a segment about female athletic directors at colleges and universities.

Rose, who started her career with the Charlotte 49ers in 1976, has served as director of athletics since 1990-91. She was just the third woman to head a NCAA Division I athletics program, and in 1999-2000, she became the first woman to serve on the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee, serving a five-year term. Rose also served as president of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics in 2003-04, and she helped attract the 1994 NCAA Men's Final Four, 1996 NCAA Women's Final Four and the 1999 and 2000 NCAA Men's Soccer College Cups to Charlotte.

During her tenure as athletics director, Rose has seen the 49ers add nearly $100 million worth of athletic facilities, including Jerry Richardson Stadium, the venue for the University’s football program that completed its inaugural season this past fall.
