Extended Academic Programs to observe National Distance Learning Week

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

The UNC Charlotte Office of Extended Academic Program will celebrate National Distance Learning Week Monday, Nov. 11, through Friday, Nov. 15, with opportunities for online students and a coffee/breakfast for faculty and program coordinators.

According to officials, UNC Charlotte offers 31 undergraduate and graduate degrees and graduate certificates that make it possible for more than 1,300 students to be enrolled at UNC Charlotte without requiring students to come to campus.

“The expertise of our staff make the connection between academic departments, the learning technology and the myriad of campus services appear seamless for our distance education students. We know there are barriers to higher education and offering quality online and site-based programs is way to contribute to the education of our region’s citizens,” said Dennis McElhoe, director, credit programs, Office of Extended Academic Programs.

The University’s observance is part of a nationwide celebration led by the United States Distance Learning Association to generate greater awareness and appreciation for distance learning and to recognize leaders and best practices in the field.

The UNC system is offering a variety of online workshops for faculty who are teaching online. More details are online. For questions about distance education at UNC Charlotte, click here.
