Panel discussion to explore ‘Hard Hits’

“Hard Hits: Concussions and the Modern Athlete,” a panel discussion, will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, at UNC Charlotte Center City.

Four UNC Charlotte faculty and staff members will consider the emerging research on sports-related concussions in this latest offering of the series “Sports in the New South: Culture, Color and Cash,” sponsored by the Center for the Study of the New South.

 The panelists are Robert Jones, medical director of the UNC Charlotte Student Health Center; Tricia Turner, associate professor and athletic training program coordinator, Department of Kinesiology; Eric Wikstrom, co-director of the Biodynamics Research Lab in the College of Health and Human Services; and Bret Wood, a lecturer and clinical education coordinator for the athletic training education program, Department of Kinesiology.

The colleges of Health and Human Services and Liberal Arts & Sciences and the Center for Professional and Applied Ethics are co-sponsoring this free, public event. Seating is limited; email RSVPs to clas-event@uncc.edu.
