Kile Stinson, Motorsports Lab manager in the Lee College of Engineering, was the grand prize winner in the N.C. Air Awareness’ “Race to the Beach.” He won a weekend trip to Wrightsville Beach and paddle board lessons at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort.

This summer, UNC Charlotte employees had the chance to participate in the “Race to the Beach” through the University’s IDEAS Center. The race was an incentive to combat high ozone levels during the summer months.

Participants logged in to record “clean” commutes to work (carpool, bus, LYNX, walk, bike, telecommute or compressed work days). Stinson made more than 50 clean commutes during the contest time frame.
