Roslyn Mickelson, sociology, led a discussion of school quality, diversity and location at the Lincoln Institute’s eight annual Land Policy Conference held recently in Cambridge, Mass.

A three-day gathering of scholars, researchers and practitioners, the conference considered the use of property taxes as a funding mechanism for local public schools, the role that school quality plays in household location decisions, how the perceived quality of schools affects real estate values and the growth of new alternatives such as charter schools and homeschooling.
