Annual ‘Have a Heart Campaign’ under way

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

The UNC Charlotte Staff Council is coordinating the University’s participation in the annual “Have a Heart Campaign,” the UNC Staff Assembly’s statewide challenge to benefit local food banks and charities.

During the February campaign, members of the campus community are encouraged to donate canned goods and non-perishable food items to benefit Loaves & Fishes, a nonprofit emergency food pantry program which provides a week's worth of groceries to people in crisis.

The UNC Staff Assembly, which is the elected body of representatives of the staff of the 17 campuses of the University of North Carolina, UNC Public Television, the North Carolina Arboretum and General Administration, has issued a challenge to the more than 30,000 employees of the system to participate in the “Have a Heart Campaign,” part of a Month of Service.  During this event, the 17 campuses and other UNC system units will collect canned goods and toiletries to benefit organizations in their respective communities.

Collection barrels for UNC Charlotte’s “Have a Heart Campaign” are in Atkins Library; Cato and Scott halls; EPIC; Fretwell, FM/PPS and Reese buildings; Student Union and UNC Charlotte Center City.
