The new Forbes.com blog “Innovation Conversations” is written by UNC Charlotte alumnus Henry Doss, who shares his thoughts on innovation, the humanities and other topics.

Doss, a volunteer executive-in-residence for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, is chief strategy officer with T2 Venture Capital.

According to Doss, the column will address issues of innovation with particular emphasis on "how you build innovation ecosystems. Inside of this broad area, I plan to write about corporate, institutional, government and economic development topics, drawing on our T2VC business model and the work we do.

“Of particular interest to me, though, is to explore issues of leadership and culture, with a lot of inquiry into how the humanities can influence, guide and help develop strong leadership in the business world,” he said. “So, I'll be looking for ways to investigate what I think are strong linkages between liberal arts and business/innovation.

Doss earned his bachelor’s degree in English in 1977 and spent decades in the banking and venture capital industries. He is past president of UNC Charlotte’s Alumni Association board of directors and a current member of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Advisory Council.

He also is a current graduate student in liberal studies, with a concentration in Renaissance studies. Nine members of his family, including his wife and two daughters, earned degrees at UNC Charlotte.

“Henry brings a unique, thoughtful perspective to our work,” stated Nancy Gutierrez, CLAS dean. “His main priorities are to coach and mentor students, expand our college’s global reach and provide counsel to the college leadership and faculty on initiatives.”
