Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Jeff Baker, chief of UNC Charlotte’s Police and Public Safety Department (PPS), is among the finalists for Campus Safety magazine's 2012 Director of the Year.

Exclusively serving campus police chiefs, security directors, IT personnel, emergency managers and executive administrators involved in the public safety and security of major hospitals, schools and universities in the United States, Campus Safety magazine is published by CS Bobit Business Media.

According to the Campus Safety website, Baker is a finalist for  successfully lobbying for additional police officers and refocusing patrol efforts to include more foot and bike patrols for increased officer visibility; for expanding PPS’s investigations unit that led to more solved cases and few reported cases of property crime on campus; and for doubling the department’s jurisdiction to better serve students living in off-campus apartments.
