Terri Rhodes, assistant director for training in the Counseling Center, recently received the Helen Roehlke Award from the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA) at its annual meeting in Baltimore.

In bestowing the award, the association praised Rhodes for “for her invariable willingness to step up to meet organizational needs and for her quiet, behind-the-scenes approach to service.”

Rhodes has been an ACCTA member since 2000, and she has been active in the organization in several capacities, including serving on the board and various committees; writing successful grant applications; and hosting, liaising and presenting at conferences. Rhodes described ACCTA as a professional home, and she expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to play many roles in the organization and  to learn from her colleagues and collaborators.

“Recognition of Terri’s contribution to training and supervision in psychology is well-deserved,” said David Spano, associate vice chancellor for health programs and services and director of the Counseling Center. “She’s been a leader in both arenas for counseling centers and psychology nationwide. Her involvement with ACCTA is a model for the kind of leadership to which professionals in our field aspire.”

The Helen Roehlke Award was established by the ACCTA in 1999, and it is the organization’s most prestigious accolade. It is presented each year to a member who exhibits unwavering enthusiasm, commitment, support and overall service to the association.
