UNC Charlotte will honor the late Lt. Col. Paul Mikeal as part of the University’s Fallen Hero Memorial Ceremony at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Food Court. Following the ceremony, at approximately 3:15 p.m., there will be a 21-gun salute on the east plaza next to the Cone University Center.
The Fallen Hero Memorial Ceremony honors UNC Charlotte students, alumni and faculty/staff members who lost their lives in military service to the United States. Mikeal, from Mooresville, graduated from UNC Charlotte in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He was one of the North Carolina Air National Guard members who died in a plane crash earlier this year while on a mission to fight wildfires in South Dakota’s Black Hills.
