Whether it’s treating yourself, embracing fitness, learning about nutrition or improving your mental health, UNC Charlotte has you covered.

Exercise is for everybody

Have you checked out the UNC Charlotte University Recreation Center, also known as UREC, to see what it offers? For students, UREC facilities are free and can support your well-being journey throughout college. Attend as many fitness classes as you want at all different times (because schedules are crazy). For a very small fee per month, faculty and staff can enjoy UREC’s facilities.

Here are all the things you can enjoy:

  • Four multipurpose courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton and pickleball
  • Outdoor basketball, pickleball and sand volleyball courts
  • Indoor and outdoor leisure pools featuring a vortex loop, four lanes for lap swimming (25 yards) and zero-depth entry
  • Over 30,000 square feet of dedicated space for fitness equipment. Additionally, the facility includes group fitness and multipurpose studios, a personal training assessment space, an elevated track and an indoor turf area
  • Locker rooms on the first and third floor including four single use accessible locker/changing rooms
  • Three outdoor terraces with views of the campus and the outdoor pool

There’s a lot to do! It may feel overwhelming stepping into the gym, but UREC offers personal training to help you reach your goals, as well as group classes. Don’t forget to check out the events for “Love Your Body Week,” Feb. 20-23.

Learn new and simple ways to cook

Ready to change your cooking game? The demo kitchen offers free cooking classes. Sessions are offered throughout the semester on a variety of topics in the kitchen from nutritional lectures to “How to Make Your Own” recipes.
