Employee engagement has emerged as a critical driver of business success in today's competitive marketplace and higher education and UNC Charlotte are no exceptions. High levels of engagement promote retention of talent, foster loyalty and improve organizational performance and stakeholder value.

With this in mind, UNC Charlotte is introducing the Webinar Series for Charlotte Employees, a free interactive series providing Charlotte employees with the tools needed to tackle some of today’s toughest challenges by addressing three key areas: morale/burnout, productivity/effectiveness and poor management.

“As administrators, we recognize and acknowledge that it can be challenging working in higher education today,” said Provost Alicia L. Bertone. “This new webinar series was created to provide UNC Charlotte employees with the right tools to help make their jobs better and more fulfilling.”

Each webinar is interactive and hands-on with open discussion and activities, and will run from 12 to 1 p.m. All sessions will be recorded and available to registered participants and bonus content will be emailed after each webinar to help participants continue their professional development journeys.

About the Webinar Series for Charlotte Employees
The Provost Webinar Series was developed after unprecedented numbers of employees left the University during the past couple of years (which is consistent with other institutions of higher education, as well as private corporations). Provost Emerita Joan Lorden held an online listening session in winter 2022 to gain a better understanding of why employees were leaving and to hear suggestions on what the administration could do to improve things.

The listening session led to the formation of a task force composed of select individuals from across campus. The task force reviewed survey data from the listening session attendees, along with employment data provided by Human Resources. As a result, the webinar series was developed by UNC Charlotte’s School of Professional Studies.
